Unlimited Web Hosting
Unlimited Web Hosting - Got Dirt?

- Free Unlimited Web Hosting
During the search for a web hosting provider, almost everyone is lured into an unlimited web hosting plan at one point or another. After all, what could be better than having a web hosting plan where you don’t ever have to worry about running out of hard drive space and bandwidth?
Eventually he/she will find out that companies offering unlimited disk space and bandwidth are just using this term as a marketing scheme to lure in unsuspecting customers. While your website is small you will be fine with the unlimited plan. The first thing that will happen when you start using anything real amounts of resource, is that your web host will suspend your website.
They will almost always pull this little terms of service clause - ‘If a customer’s site is found to be monopolizing a servers resources, we may suspend the account for abusing the server.’ So as long as I don’t use too much of the servers CPU or RAM resource, my website will be fine, right? WRONG. As soon as you start using too much disk space or bandwidth, they can simply say that you are monopolizing. After all, there is no way for the end user to tell how much their site is taxing the web server.
The truth is, there is no way to offer unlimited amounts of a physical resource. The idea is to advertise unlimited, suck in as many customers, and boot all the ones that use anywhere near a reasonable amount of space/bandwidth. The goal is to fill a server up with as many small, low usage websites as possible. - by Daniel Brock
The Myth Of Unlimited Bandwidth And Disk Space Web Hosting
The web hosting industry is a competitive market. There is no such thing as unlimited bandwidth. Typically the way it works is that a large corporation will rent out small chunks of the bandwidth they are capable of providing to smaller companies.
A severely unmonitored web hosting company can end up having a customer use up all the space that they were allotted by their datacenter. In this case, every person using the server (all clients under the web host) will have their websites go down because the datacenter will either shut off the server when the web host exceeds their limit. If that does not occur then they will charge the web host with huge bandwidth fees. The end result will quickly lead to the web hosting company being upside down in their profits and they will likely be forced to close the company.
If the web hosting company that offers the myth of “unlimited bandwidth” does monitor well, they will shut your website down if you do exceed what their own limitations are for your website.
As for web space (commonly referred to as disk space), the same concept applies. There is a reason why all of the biggest web hosting companies have limitations on their shared plans. If you are running an online business, be sure to go with a reputable host that does not offer these unfulfilling promises. - by Travis Tracy
